City Manager Gregory Rose Out Over “More Cops”?

What More Cops Money?

Channel 8 is reporting that Nor’Town City Manager Gregory Rose is on paid leave and may be leaving the city permanently. (VegasNow) TeeVee folk think it’s because of the missing “More Cops” money, but Rose has apparently denied it.

More about missing “More Cops” money:

[UPDATE: Let the baseless speculation begin! Lots of questions about the repercussions of this. The shifting of existing police to the "More Cops' money--a violation of the goals of the program--started at least a year ago. The Mayor at the time was Mike Montandon.

Nonetheless, whether we're talking Montandon or Mayor Buck, the question is: what did the mayors know about this and when did they know it?

If Buck knew about this, should she tender her resignation?

If she didn't know about it, then why not? Isn't it her job to monitor the City Manager?

What happens to Montandon's run for Governor, since this was happening on his watch? Surely opponents will want to connect him with the "More Cops" money.

It's been clear for a long time that Councilguys Robert Eliason and William Robinson would happily have voted Rose out of the City Manager's position. The mayor was solidly behind him while, it seemed to me anyways, that Richard Cherchio  and Anita Wood supported Rose mainly because they were newbies who didn't want to make a severe change so early in their new positions. Judging from Cherchio's remarks here, however, I suspect there are now at least three votes against Rose, which, of course, is a majority.]

Well, it’s about time. It was Mayor Montandon and then-Councilwomen Buck and Smith that essentially allowed the City Manager to write his own contract. It’s that very contract with it’s “platinum parachute” that is the only reason they are even putting him on paid leave. A year’s severance plus any other sick time? In this economy, the city could be hard pressed to afford this without impacting other services.

During the recent Mayoral campaign, the NLV Police Dept. was an active arm of the Shari Buck campaign. Ms. Buck has always been strongly supportive of Gregory Rose. Now we know at least one reason for all of these supportive relationships. I have no doubt that Shari Buck and Mike Montandon knew all along what Gregory Rose was doing. They may have even helped him hatch the plan. What a good way to prop up the City’s finances in troubled times.
Didn’t Shari Buck emphasize her support for the More Cops program in her campaign literature? How many voters were hoodwinked into believing her lies! Seems like Stephanie Smith also put out a flyer or two about More Cops. And let’s not forget MR. WATCHDOG himself – William Robinson. Where was the watchdog when Mr. Rose was playing games with City finances? Mr. Robinson was sleeping like he often does in City Council meetings.
This is just a big mess that should have been uncovered long, long ago. I’m sorry it wasn’t uncovered prior to the recent municipal elections. Too late now to make a difference.

Now that rose is gone, let’s work on the next thorn, David Bereskin.
Bereskin’s name is all over the lawsuit filed by a former employee of high rank, who if you go to Civl Case # 2:08-1399, Document 35, page 3 of 8, one will see, and begin to put together the peices of just how corrupt politics in northtown REALLY IS!
