Now THIS Looks Like One Good Old Time…

The North Las Vegas City Council will be holding an oh, so special meeting this Thursday, April 29th at 5pm at the Aliante Library, 2400 W. Deer Springs Way, North Las Vegas, Nevada.

Just look at the topics:

1. Discussion and/or action regarding possible revisions to Mayor – Council expectations, leadership and governance protocols as previously established.

2. Six month review, update and discussion regarding the Action Agenda 2010.

The announcement was only signed by the mayor leading to the intriguing speculation that the mayor is tiring of those 4-1 votes against her and wants to change the rules.

Seems to me that if the mayor is looking to do more leading, she might try acting more like a leader, instead of standing by and bashing the rest of council as they try to deal with a budget crisis while she tries to protect her base in the public safety unions.

And if it is like the last special meeting, everything will get tabled until a future meeting, anyway. That’s what happened to the idea of streaming council meetings on the web.

Come on guys. You could at least pop for a Flip camera and upload a vid file to the website.

Always nice to read your commentary:) The reason the streaming item was delayed was due to the fact we are required to provide closed captioning along with our streaming of the meetings, which I agree is appropriate. Since that was not anticipated it needs to be addressed before we go forward in a presentation to our full council and public. In my opinion we need open and transparent government ASAP, particularly in our current economic climate. While I was made to understand the new city hall will have telecast capabilities, I have also been informed that those capabilites and needed equipment have not been funded. Because of that reason as well, I am hoping that we can get this started now and then continue to use this form at the new building. This was one of my goals as a resident before I was appointed to Council, and I look forward to my fellow members approval. Thanks, R.

Nice to see that councilman Cherchio has time to comment on this site but not email back a concerned citizen’s Email. I also see where our council’s priorities are. I would hope they would be more focused on the safety of their citizens rather than having meetings broadcast on the internet. But maybe that’s why councilman was appointed in and not elected.

  • Hey Now

Councilman Richard Cherchio may have been appointed rather than elected, but he is one of the most dedicated elected officials in southern Nevada. Councilman Cherchio did not merely “comment on this site” but cared enough to set the record straight by writing an open letter and circulating it to his constituents. His priorities have always been focused on the safety and well-being of NLV residents. This, of course, is in contrast to the long-time politicians in our City who care ONLY about getting re-elected and playing political games. I’m glad that we have Councilman Chercio and Councilwoman Anita Wood serving our interests. I hope that the voters replace the other members of the Council – Mayor McCheese Buck, Airhead Eliason, and Robinson the Crook – as soon as possible.
