Couple of Norftown news items coursing through the Internet tubes:
Clark County District Judge Elizabeth Gonzales has ruled in favor of Toothless Wade Wagner and put a halt to the special election in Precinct 4036. (Sun) We’ll see if there is such a thing as an appeal in the wind, or if the recent resignation of a city shylock, as a commentator suggests, is connected to the mess. Richard Cherchio apparently will challenge the ruling. (RJ)
State Senator, Congressional wannabe, and gun-nut John Lee doesn’t want to say the word “receivership,” but, apparently, can’t help himself while watching the former city of North Las Vegas creep closer to a state takeover. (Sun) But the scariest part of the tale is the thought of so-called Governor Brian Sandoval “monitoring the situation.” Still, this will give him the opportunity to raise new taxes while pretending Shari Buck forced him to.
Funeral services for Buck’s political career will be held in June, 2013.

Politicians are all the same including new councilwoman, Pamela Goynes-Brown. I recently attended the Independence event held at Seatrand Park. I was in line ready to enter the event when the councilwoman and her family showed up and expected free entry. Mind you the event was only $2 per person, there were 8 of them. Did anyone mention to MS Goynes prior to running for election in NLV that the city is cash strapped and that she would be expected to find cash solutions not expect favors from the city and it’s residents.
It’s why I keep saying this City should be merged into Las Vegas and provide the elimination of a whole structure of Chiefs to save millions of dollars in management. This city has the highest property taxes, the worst schools (thank you county), miles of trashy buildings from incompetent zoning, police that are unable to keep the city safe (per their billboards – I would replace them all), poor relationships with other municipalities, the missing link of a true Las Vegas Beltway, large sections without a Bus System, and the list goes on and on. This shows a lack of poor generational leadership with no hope of an internal turnaround. Dissolve the City Charter, Las Vegas while not perfect is far better the the disfunctional management in North Las Vegas.
