(RJ) The official reason for the reduction was to save budget money while there is little going on in the city to plan for. Not that planning’s ever been a strong suit for the city in [...] North Las Vegas City Council will hold another O-so-special session today, June 2nd, at 4:40pm, over at city hall. Council is set to add more exceptions to the hiring freeze, which is looking more and more like the old hiring chill. But who can keep track? The special meeting will allow council to let the [...] North Las Vegas City Council approved the 2010-2011 budget tonight. Expects $736.8 million in revenue and $736.8 million in expenditures for the next year. 204 jobs will be terminated and the hiring freeze will continue. General fund expenditures will be down about $52.5 million from last year. Oddly, council was unanimous: Mayor Shari Buck voted [...] Herhonor Mayor Shari Buck was flying over Nor’Town in a F-15E last week. Unlike the city, I’m assuming the Air Force didn’t allow her to pilot the thing. There have yet to be any reports of errant “Bunker Busters” showing up in the Mayor Pro Tem’s backyard, though I’m expecting one any minute. Apologies go [...] This Weds, May 5th, City Council will hold another special session at 4:30pm. Topics include (1) possible changes to how, or better, if, Code Enforcement will continue, or better, ever begin, in Nor’Town and (2) possible approval of the health plan for any remaining city employees. Rumors that the city will be adopting Senate candidate [...] Councilman Cherchio had some questions about the coverage by George Knapp over that full-page ad that the firefighters paid for in the Las Vegas Review Journal the other day.
