Herhonor Mayor Shari Buck was flying over Nor’Town in a F-15E last week. Unlike the city, I’m assuming the Air Force didn’t allow her to pilot the thing. There have yet to be any reports of errant “Bunker Busters” showing up in the Mayor Pro Tem’s backyard, though I’m expecting one any minute. Apologies go out to Airman 1st [...] As the recriminations from the last special budget meeting of the North Las Vegas City Council are still flying like a flock of Nor’Town pigeons fleeing a burning aviary, this Wednesday will feature yet another special meeting on the budget at 4:30pm, Weds, April 10th, down at city hall. Nor’Townie watchers will be especially interested to see [...] April Fools’ Day will take on a special significance in North Las Vegas this year. That’s because the North Las Vegas city council will be holding an oh, so special meeting on Thursday, April 1 at 6pm over at City Hall to discuss–well, wait. What was on the agenda? 1. Discussion, direction and/or action regarding [...] UPDATE: THIS MEETING IS NOT CANCELED. SEE NEXT POST! According to the North Las Vegas HOA Alliance folk, the special meeting at 4:30 pm of City Council is canceled. That’s the one where council was going to consider a proposal from the firefighters to take over some emergency transport services. I guess the city has fired so many [...] Forget “the community of choice.” Nor’Town is officially “the community of cognitive dissonance.” In the January 20th meeting of city council, old Phil “Downer” Stoeckinger, the director of finance of the city and lately the most depressing person in Nor’Town, outlined how throwing everything and the kitchen sink into the city’s budget gap just won’t fill it [...] Look who’s hanging out with our newly divorced governor Jim Gibbons! Why, it’s Clark County Commissioner Tom Collins, sporting a black hat despite the connotations of doing so, and North Las Vegas Mayor Shari Buck. The Gube apparently was unable to find a white flag to signal his capitulation of the governor’s race. I jest, of course, [...] AH. Nothing says “Christmas” better than a pink slip! Yes, after a lovely tree lighting ceremony and cookies, City Council bellies up to the bar today, most likely to fire the current city manager Gregory Rose, hand him his $337,000 in parting gifts (thanks for playing, Mr. Rose!), and pick a temp to fill his shoes until [...] Whoa! Where else do you get $337,000 for messing up? Besides Goldman Sachs, I mean. $337,000 is how much it's going to cost Nor'Town to get rid of its current City Manager Gregory Rose. (RJ) City Council will be voting on the "settlement" at the December 2nd meeting, barring postponement. Mayor Buck is opposed because that's quite [...] So, executive-leaving Nor'Town City Manager characterized the use of "More Cops" funds to support cops already on the force. "The issue is a simple coding error. It's just paperwork," City Manager Gregory Rose said earlier this month. (RJ) However, the "More Cops" funds, we are told, are meant only to support new hires in an effort to increase [...] So, I was reading an article from the Review Journal about how the Southern Nevada Water Authority executive board just voted to appeal a recent ruling against the Authority’s plan to pipe water out of rural Nevada down here so that casinos can fill their pools and to replace all that quagga-poisoned water from Lake Mead [...] |
