Don Turner, former boss of the Clark County Shooting Park and darling of the gun-nut circuit, pulled the plug on his career with the failed park today. (RJ) Naturally we are told that his resignation had nothing, absolutely nothing, to do with recent questions raised about the rather odd idea that cash-strapped citizens of Clark [...] Well, well, well. The Clark County Shooting and National Rifle Association Pandering Park is apparently sucking so hard on County finances that the County has to shut down other amenities just to keep in open. (KLAS) In fact, the County will be closing down pools during the hot summer due to the budget crunch but [...] The Nevada Environmental Coalition (NEC) at a news conference on Friday, Jan. 29th accused the Bureau of Land Management of failing to provide legally required oversight of the Clark County Shooting Park. The NEC contends that the BLM violated the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) by filing a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for [...] The Shooting Park opened with no reports of Clark County Commissioner Tom Collins shooting at U-hauls. Still, some folks were puzzled at the timing: Tyson Wrench, a fierce opponent, said he was puzzled as to how the county could open the park while the Bureau of Land Management is in the midst of a 45-day [...] Others have talking points, quick hits, or gleanettes. Nor’Towners are stuck with Sludge Cakes! I ddn’t make it to the Wednesday meetings of the North Las Vegas City Council, so we’ll have to rely on the Main Stream Media (MSM) to fill in the gaps: Council voted for an audit of the “More Cops” [...] Did I say cigar? I meant weenie. Senator Harry Reid and tons of the usual suspects were up near Nor’Town brandishing weenie surrogates and expounding their love of guns, and, if Freud’s right, weenies, at a dedication for the Clark County Gun Park. (Sun) Nothing apparently gave them pause, such as the fact that the [...] You're Peeking! Greenspun, Inc., has largish article about possible expansion of environmental studies vis the Clark County Shooting Park and Lead Dump up near the proposed Ice Age national monument. (Sun) Looks like the interest in turning the area into a national monument might put pressure on the feds to do more thorough studies [...] Nothing shifts faster than a political wind. The Las Vegas Sun had a fair chunk of its Sunday offering filled up with the prospect that grounds filled with fossils in northern Nor'Town may be protected as a national monument under the National Park Service. One might wonder why Greenspun, Inc., would be so excited. After [...] Well, well. Mr. Collins got his cooked noise test back on the sound levels at the proposed Clark County shooting park, and commenced to gloat. (Sun). I say "cooked" because the report the Clark County Councilcowboy and the National Rifle Association rep in charge of the project are waving around mysteriously conflicts with the results [...] Commentators to a Review Journal editorial about the shooting park got a bit carried away, to the extent of threatening to shoot neighbors, or at least their pets and kids in case adult targets couldn't be sited.
