We will miss you. From your pen to the elected's ears on Tule Springs. I was told last week that if not for NV Energy, the legislation to designate Tule Springs would have been completed and passed 18 months ago.
Gee who is holding it up for NV Energy????Any guesses?

It's why I keep saying this City should be merged into Las Vegas and provide the elimination of a whole structure of Chiefs to save millions of dollars in management. This city has the highest property taxes, the worst schools (thank you county), miles of trashy buildings from incompetent zoning, police that are unable to keep the city safe (per their billboards - I would replace them all), poor relationships with other municipalities, the missing link of a true Las Vegas Beltway, large sections without a Bus System, and the list goes on and on. This shows a lack of poor generational leadership with no hope of an internal turnaround. Dissolve the City Charter, Las Vegas while not perfect is far better the the disfunctional management in North Las Vegas.

Politicians are all the same including new councilwoman, Pamela Goynes-Brown. I recently attended the Independence event held at Seatrand Park. I was in line ready to enter the event when the councilwoman and her family showed up and expected free entry. Mind you the event was only $2 per person, there were 8 of them. Did anyone mention to MS Goynes prior to running for election in NLV that the city is cash strapped and that she would be expected to find cash solutions not expect favors from the city and it's residents.

Immediate Release:
Steve Sanson President of Veterans In Politics 702 283 8088

Should Fire Fighter and Police Unions control the elections of elected officials?

Councilman Cherchio is a hand's on type of guy, he is not scared to get his hands dirty and stand up for what he believes is right not what he believes people want to hear

North Las Vegas Fire Fighters and Police Unions have been controlling or attempting to control elections for years. Veterans In Politics understands the significance of having emergency responders on our streets. However are these Unions looking out for the people of our cities or are they looking out for their own pocketbooks?

When most children are asked in schools what they want to be when they grow up they usually answer; police officer, fire fighter, or the military. These are three different positions that are supposed to be self-sacrificing; to serve and protect our citizens.

Now over the years we have seen that only one of these professions is not self-serving which the military is. When people join the police or fire fighters they want to know how much they will get paid. When people join the military the same principal stands and that is “I want to serve my country" out of these three professions the military makes the least and suffers the most. There is no six month paid administrative leave for being shot at, there is no union or union representations, there is no sick time off, but there is double jeopardy.

Money is not why any red blooded American joins the military and years ago it is not why people joined the police department or fire fighters battalion.

Police Officer Association Union President Mike Yarter made a statement to Las Vegas Sun reporter Delen Goldberg indicating “You need to prioritize in life,” “I don’t think that parks, libraries and some of the other frivolous spending at City Hall are priorities. Public safety is the priority. Without that, all the other stuff is inconsequential.”

Wow, ‘libraries and parks are frivolous spending’, stated the Police Officer Association Union President Mike Yarter. I guess if you want crime to increase, yes get rid of parks and libraries, so we would have a need for more police on the street. This would help with the crime escalating, un-educating our citizens and don’t give them any place to interact with their peers. Maybe we should have Marshall Law and take away citizens rights to bear arms while we are at it. I wonder if schools would be considered part of frivolous spending as well.

Who spoke up for the military when they are fighting two wars and our government was going to stop or delay their pay with the threat of governmental shut down last month? The military would still serve and protect the constitution of the United States no matter what, that’s because serve and protect is their number one priority and money is secondary. It seems that the same principals opposite in regards to these Unions that represent Police and Fire Fighters.

These same unions send out misleading mailers to the voting public about Councilman Richard Cherchio voting record, they complain about money, but yet they spend over $100,000 to discredit Councilman Cherchio with the same misleading mailers. They are then fined by the Nevada Secretary of State’s Office for failure to file Expense and Contribution reporters.

It seems that Unions are becoming big bullies and everyone that stands up to them seem to be threatened on some level. Union members said that they will target North Las Vegas Councilwoman Anita Wood next.

After Clark County Commissioner Steve Sisolak stood up to the fire fighters union for abusing their sick pay Commissioner Sisolak started to receive death threats.

Should elected officials become the puppet for the Unions or should they represent all people in a fair and unbiased arena?

We are not saying Unions do not serve a purpose, we are saying that the way they go about it is unethical and criminal.

Councilman Cherchio is a hand's on type of guy, he is not scared of repercussions and he is not scared to stand up for what he believes is right!

Gee, when I asked a campaign caller for Wade Wagner what days he was going to be available to hear a presentation on Tule Springs or other citizen concerns, I was told by the young lady "Wade will be handling all citizen concerns by email". Really????? Councilman Cherchio answers a call within a hour or so unless he is in a Council meeting, but certainly by the next day!
