I asked local representatives of the presidential campaigns to answer some questions about their candidates and to give us local folks something to chew on before the Democratic Caucus on Saturday, January 19th. Please note that I have not endorsed a candidate. I present these views to encourage citizens of North Las Vegas to [...] So says a departing administrator from City Hall as two more high level employees of North Las Vegas flee city government. (RJ) The public works director, said that Nor’Town is an "adult town," admitted that his children didn’t like here. What’s not to like? Where else can a kid play "dodge the bullet" at the [...] State Senator John Jay Lee told Molly Ball that he will not be running in the North Las Vegas Mayoral election next year. Lee had been considering running for mayor of North Las Vegas but said Friday he had evaluated his priorities and decided to stay in the Senate, if voters let him. He is [...] North Las Vegas, land of apathy, is showing up in the local press as the national presidential campaigns push to overcome Nor’Towners’ distaste for political activism: State Senator Steven Horsford waxes eloquent for the Obama campaign, for whom he is, apparently, the "ace": "There’s field and there’s field field," saith the Senator. (Sun) Ruben Kihuen, [...] I thought I would look up some older reports about violent crime in Nor’Town. I’ve included some from 2006 since this is the first time I’ve done this, and 2006 was also a busy year: Jun, 2006. Woman shot by two teens. (RJ,KLAS) Sep. 23, 2006. Two 17-year-olds arrested for gang-related shooting of school bus. [...] In Nor’Town, it seems like everybody’s got a hand in everybody else’s pocket. First there was the president of a local Democratic club that gave money, in violation of said club’s rules I’m told, to Republican Governor Jim Gibbons. Now we learn that Clark County Commissioner Tom Collins, who represents a hunk of North [...] North Las Vegas Housing Board, which is pretty much the same as the North Las Vegas City Council, continues to cover-up it’s failed oversight of mismanagement in getting out funds by blaming the feds. Not that the feds shouldn’t take their share of the blame. It just goes to show what happens when you [...] For those of you with a gas lamp, you might be interested in the following.
